A highly skilled and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal with seven years of experience providing support in the preparation, management, and execution of complex litigation cases. The paralegal is responsible for handling all aspects of the litigation process, from pre-trial discovery to post-trial motions, and assisting attorneys in all aspects of case preparation and courtroom presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Preparation and Management:
  • Assist attorneys in the development and preparation of cases for trial.
  • Coordinate and organize case files, including pleadings, motions, discovery materials, evidence, and deposition transcripts.
  • Manage and maintain case calendars, deadlines, and hearings, ensuring timely filing of documents and compliance with court rules.
  • Research case law, statutes, regulations, and legal articles to assist in case strategy and prepare summaries for attorneys.

Discovery:

  • Draft, review, and manage discovery requests (interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions).
  • Organize and analyze documents produced in discovery, ensuring compliance with deadlines and proper indexing.
  • Prepare and assist with the review of deposition summaries, expert witness reports, and other evidentiary materials.

Drafting Legal Documents:

  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and notices, based on attorney instructions.
  • Prepare summaries of motions, depositions, and other documents for attorney review.
  • Assist in drafting and filing court documents in accordance with local, state, and federal court rules.

Client Interaction and Communication:

  • Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates and gather necessary information.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for client meetings, depositions, and trial preparation.

Courtroom Assistance:

  • Assist attorneys in trial preparation by organizing exhibits, preparing trial binders, and coordinating the presentation of evidence.
  • Provide support during depositions, hearings, and trials, including taking notes and managing case files.
  • Ensure all necessary documentation and evidence are properly filed and presented in court.

E-Discovery and Technology Management:

  • Oversee electronic discovery processes, including managing e-discovery platforms, reviewing large volumes of digital files, and identifying key documents.
  • Utilize legal research tools, case management software, and document management systems to streamline case preparation and organization.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure that all litigation practices comply with applicable legal standards, ethical rules, and procedural guidelines.
  • Assist with identifying risks and potential issues during litigation and provide support for case mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Paralegal certificate or degree, preferably from an ABA-accredited program.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in litigation support, with a focus on trial preparation, discovery, and legal research.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficient with case management software, legal research tools (LexisNexis, Westlaw), e-discovery platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of state and federal court rules and procedures.

Preferred:

  • Experience in specific practice areas such as commercial litigation, personal injury, employment law, or intellectual property.
  • Knowledge of e-discovery tools and procedures.
  • Familiarity with trial preparation tools such as TrialDirector or similar case presentation software.
