API Test Engineer

Brief Description
Sierra7, Inc. is seeking an API Test Engineer to join our team and work with the Benefits and Memorials Independent Verification and Validation (BAM IV&V) team for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). In this position, the engineer would work with the Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS) Performance team in writing, maintaining, and executing API testing within VBMS and serve as an additional connection point between API testing side and other Performance related testing.

Position Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to build out testing schedule to encompass all aspects of VBMS Performance testing
  • Create and maintain test scripts for Performance and API testing
  • Conduct end to end testing on all applications
  • Create and assist in delivery of Master Test Plan and periodic project reports
  • Develop products in adherence to 508 regulations and standards
  • Analyze areas for process improvement and identify technical solutions

Requirements
Skills:

  • Demonstrated success as a Test Engineer
  • Comfortability working with a team to formulate solutions to complex problems
  • Experience with APIs is required
  • Familiarity with coding languages- Java, JSON, SQL, etc.
  • Experience with Jira and LoadRunner [desired]
  • Experience with Service oriented architecture especially within the VA or Federal government [desired]
  • Experience testing within cloud systems (AWS/ Azure) [desired]
  • Strong analytical capabilities and technical knowledge by providing supportable technical solutions
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or similar technical discipline (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education)
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working in VA or other Government agency [desired]
  • Ability to obtain a Government public trust clearance.
