This position is eligible to telework up to three (3) days a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II, the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) supervises the Recruitment Unit within the Office of Human Resources (OHR), Hiring Support Branch (HSB). The SSM I oversees subordinate staff who perform a variety of complex and sensitive analytical duties related to recruitment efforts for all DGS programs, as well as contracted client agencies, boards, and commissions, particularly for classifications with chronically high vacancy rates. This position oversees the development and coordination of strategic recruitment plans, marketing and outreach, and facilitating the recruitment process for DGS programs. Additionally, this position oversees reviewing minimum qualification (MQ) analysis for DGS programs, contracted client agencies, boards, and commissions. The SSM I provides guidance to staff on the most sensitive and complex recruitment issues and ensures compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations and Department of Human Resources (CalHR), State Personnel Board (SPB), and DGS policies and procedures.

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year.

This position may require travel.
