Purpose:

Responsible for the development and implementation of standard operating practices and processes that align with and support minimum performance expectations. Supports DC operations front line leadership to ensure knowledge and understanding of proper and consistent standards application processes.

Job Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

  • Complete solo assessments of DC operations and identify gaps in processes.
  • Create tools and standardized audit forms for Cross-Functional Teams, Operations Partners, and Process Excellence teams to complete process assessments.
  • Contribute and develop Process Excellence for Transformational Change network projects.
  • Conduct ergonomics evaluations; recommend and implement improvements to work area designs.
  • Observe, identify, and address process opportunities. Create sustainable solutions in collaboration with DC Operations partnership and buy-in.
  • Create, update, and/or modify Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) and Prescribed Work Instructions (PWI) to best practices.
  • Audit compliance to SOPs/PWIs at Distribution Centers (DCs).
  • Lead DC leadership and supervision to identify process improvement gaps to SOP/PWIs.
  • Train DC leadership to review Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on business intelligence charts/graphs/data trends for sustained process improvement.
  • Partner with Industrial Engineering to identify areas of improvement, work samplings, and time studies to ensure accuracy of standards.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and develop, analyze, and present solutions.
  • Train front-line operations leadership and hourly associates on prescribed methods based on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Utilize reporting such as SCI IBM Cognos, Blue Yonder, and BI Dashboards to identify gaps in process.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop Process Excellence for transformational change top-down network projects.
  • Perform audits for compliance to SOP/PWIs at DCs. Maintain accuracy of SOPs/PWIs.
  • Collaborate with Operation Leaders to prescribed methods and create sustained standardization.
  • Partner with Industrial Engineering team to ensure accuracy of standards through working sampling and time studies.
  • Create tools and audit forms for UNFI network to ensure standardization.
  • Research gaps in processes through reporting and systems research.

Job Requirements:

Education/ Experience/ combination of education training and experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business, or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of UNFI engineering experience preferred or 5+ years of engineering work experience.
  • Proven track record of delivering results and strong background in managing Process Excellence projects to completion.
  • Distribution or Supply Chain experience preferred.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and engagement skills.
  • High competency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Takes initiative and high responsive, attentive internal customer service skills to effectively support operations.
  • High capacity to learn, adapt, and be agile in transformational change environments and scenarios.
  • Ability to work effectively and collectively in a team environment.
  • Critically think and resolve issues through outside-of-the-box ideas.
  • Support an environment of learning and teaching in the operation.
  • AutoCAD, UMTPlus, Manhattan, Blue Yonder (Red Prairie), SQL, and Java knowledge preferred.
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.
  • Travel is required up to (50)% for this position.

After the introductory period, as a 100% commission-based role, there is no set salary. UNFI's commission plans are uncapped and average earnings vary depending on territory and sales achieved, among other factors.
