Roots Early Learning Center is Hiring a Lead Infant Teacher

Are you a kind, reliable, and energetic early childhood professional? Join our growing team at Roots Early Learning Center, a play-based program located in the Humboldt Park/West Town neighborhood. Our mission is to create a warm, joyful environment where infants feel safe, loved, and supported as they explore the world around them.

We're looking for a Lead Infant Teacher who:

  • Loves working with infants and understands the importance of responsive, relationship-based care

  • Is committed to high-quality care and developmentally appropriate practice
  • Wants to grow with a supportive, mission-driven team

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Observing and documenting children's learning using Brightwheel and developmental portfolios
  • Creating and implementing weekly play-based lesson plans aligned with infant development
  • Maintaining open and supportive communication with families via Brightwheel
  • Ensuring the classroom is safe, clean, organized, and welcoming at all times
  • Meeting the individual developmental needs of each infant through intentional routines and responsive caregiving
  • Supporting a positive and playful learning environment where children's cues guide the day

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

(must include at least 6 semester hours in child development or ECE coursework)

OR a current CDA

  • At least 1 year of direct classroom experience as a lead teacher
  • CPR and First Aid certified, or willingness to obtain within 60 days
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with families and coworkers
  • Reliable, nurturing, and committed to maintaining high standards of care

Pay: $ $21.50 per hour
