is a boutique human resources consulting firm, supporting our clients' employees through the complete employee life cycle. From recruiting and onboarding, payroll and benefits administration, training and support, to discipline and termination, we help our clients build an outstanding company culture through solid employment practices.

We are growing our team of Human Resources Consultants
to support the needs of new and existing clients in the Bay Area. This position will start as Part Time (average about 20-25 hours per week) with the intention to grow to Full Time.

Sr. Human Resource Consultant with 10-15 years of experience
who:

  • Thrives in a generalist role; as a single point of contact for our clients, our Consultants must be comfortable working in the day-to-day responsibilities of HR.
  • Experienced and confident when working with Leadership teams.
  • Thinks strategically when communicating with leadership teams.
  • Brings a high level of professional HR acumen to the client's organizations.

Our HR Consultants may work hybrid, remote or on-site with our Bay Area clients. Therefore, we must have someone within commuting distance as needed.
Ideally the Sr HR Consultant would be located either in the South Bay or Peninsula and is willing to commute to client locations within the Bay Area. Attendance at company meetings in Danville is required up to once per month.

Sr. HR Consultant Job Description:

HR Administration:

  • Maintaining employee database to document, record, update, and track all personnel actions (e.g., hire, promotion, workers comp, immigration, LOA, reasonable accommodation, etc.)
  • Updating the organizational chart as needed
  • Processing employment verification requests and wage garnishments
  • Handling general HR inquiries of a routine nature
  • Implementing HR policies and procedures, monitoring employee observance and providing feedback to assist with revision as needed
  • Generating HR correspondence, presentations, and other written materials as needed
  • Maintaining accurate and thorough HR personnel files and a compliant records retention system
  • General knowledge of HR systems and services such as HRIS, performance management tracking systems, payroll systems, and other SAS options

Benefits Administration:

  • Managing open enrollment (usually in partnership with the broker,) monthly reconciliation of billing and investigation of benefit challenges
  • Processing benefits enrollments, changes and terminations
  • Assisting employees with questions regarding benefit plans
  • Managing relationships with benefits brokers

Workers Compensation, Safety and Training:

  • Managing the day-to-day workers compensation process, including initiating, tracking, and closing WC claims; facilitating treatment for injured employees and following up with supervisors
  • Maintaining compliant OSHA logs
  • Management of disability management and ADA
  • Participation in the development and delivery of safety and other training meetings by securing vendors, presentation/document preparation, creating and analyzing evaluations

Recruitment, Hiring, and Separation:

  • Recruitment of open staff positions; job postings, recruitment strategies including implementation of outreach and recruitment activities; developing and maintaining relations with partner agencies; and attending job/career fairs and similar events
  • Developing and implementing new hire orientation and onboarding process
  • Scheduling and conducting exit interviews
  • Coordinating new hire orientation including completion of hire paperwork
  • Processing resignations, new hires, rehires, and terminations, generating correspondence and coordinating delivery of final pay
  • ATS administration and use

Employee Relations:

  • Ensuring proper compliance with labor laws including wage and hour regulations, FMLA, COBRA, ADA and EEO, unemployment compensation, worker's compensation and other applicable state and federal laws
  • Working with managers and staff to address and resolve employee relations issues
  • Working with counsel to conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations and providing appropriate recommendations
  • Contributing to personnel relations intervention/corrective action policy and training requirements
  • Providing training on organization policy and procedures as necessary

Payroll:

  • General knowledge of payroll systems and processes; ability to set up payroll systems for a startup
  • Understanding of multi-state payrolls; how to set up new hires in other states and incorporate them into the payroll system
  • Basic payroll tax understanding

Employee Engagement:

  • Analyzing company culture; recommending and implementing any necessary adjustments with approval from the client's management team

Internal to Ignite HR Solutions:

  • Reporting of status of clients on a weekly basis
  • Attending status meetings
  • Attending training and all-hands meetings
  • Working with the team to establish internal best practices, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Collaboration with other HR Generalists and Consultants on projects as needed
  • Keep updated on current local, state, and federal ordinances and laws, as well as trends and best practices.

Required Skills:

  • Expert multi-tasking skills are a Must-Have
  • Flexible work style – you may be working from home one day and onsite others. We work where our clients request that we work
  • Ability to connect with people and form trusted relationships quickly
  • Knowledge of employment laws and compliance issues
  • Understanding of CA employment law and how it differs from other states
  • Ability to research and implement other state and local employment laws
  • Proficiency in MS Office, GSuite, calendar management
  • Knowledge of at least one payroll software package such as ADP, Paychex, Quickbooks, Gusto, etc.

Requirements:

  • 10-15 years of experience in human resources
  • Minimum of PHR or SHRM-CP designations required, Senior Level preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in business or human resources
  • Minimum of 5 years of "people management"
  • Ability to transport self to client sites as needed

Bilingual- English and Spanish is a huge plus

Compensation
