Overview

This role is perfect for a tech-savvy professional eager to grow in a hybrid IT and engineering environment. As a Specialist, you'll support research teams by streamlining technology use, integrating scientific equipment, automating data flows, troubleshooting issues, maintaining documentation, and contributing to hands-on innovation projects in our Makerspace.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technology liaison to research teams, offering guidance and support.
• Assist with onboarding scientific equipment and enabling data flows.
• Troubleshoot issues in collaboration with researchers and vendors.
• Maintain documentation and knowledgebase articles.
• Operate and maintain 3D printers (Stratasys PolyJet, Prusa FMD).
• Support prototyping and automation efforts under guidance from senior team members

Ideal /Preferred Skills:

• General IT troubleshooting, network onboarding
• Exposure to CAD design and 3D modeling
• 3D printing basics for filament-based printers
• Interest in robotic automation and Makerspace environments
• Strong communication skills
• Collaborative, inclusive, and proactive mindset
• Eagerness to learn and contribute to innovative projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 1–2 years of experience in enterprise application support, IT service desk, or similar
  OR
• High school diploma or associate degree and 3–5 years of relevant experience

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $28.20/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children's Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
