Position Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician / Group Facilitator at The Healing Center of Cherry Hill provides recovery-oriented support, mentorship, and guidance to clients in all levels of outpatient care. Drawing on lived experience with substance use or mental health recovery, this role focuses on fostering connection, accountability, and empowerment while helping clients develop the skills and support systems necessary for lasting recovery. The Behavioral Health Technician / Group Facilitator assists with transportation, group facilitation, and case management support, ensuring a safe, structured, and compassionate treatment environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support
- Build trusting relationships with clients through empathy, active listening, and non-judgmental communication.
- Facilitate or co-facilitate recovery and life-skills groups, check-ins, and wellness activities.
- Provide individualized mentoring and goal-setting sessions focused on recovery, wellness, and reintegration.
- Support clients in developing relapse prevention strategies and connecting to external recovery supports (employment, education, 12-step, SMART Recovery, or harm-reduction resources).
- Uphold confidentiality at all times in compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
Transportation & Operational Support
- Safely transport clients to and from the facility, appointments, meetings, and recovery-related activities using company vehicles.
- Support daily program operations, ensuring the facility remains clean, organized, and safe.
- Assist with admissions, orientations, and discharges, helping new clients acclimate to the program.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and supervision to ensure consistent communication and alignment with treatment goals.
- Follow all safety and emergency protocols, including carrying and knowing how to administer Narcan when necessary.
Case Management Support
- Help clients identify and access community resources, including medical care, housing, employment, and continuing care support.
- Collaborate with case managers and clinical staff to communicate client needs, concerns, and progress.
- Assist clients in setting recovery goals, tracking milestones, and maintaining motivation.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and services provided.
Qualifications
- Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or human services coursework preferred.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to model professionalism, healthy boundaries, and accountability.
- Familiarity with harm-reduction, trauma-informed, and person-centered care approaches.
Work Environment
- Outpatient behavioral health setting requiring empathy, patience, and teamwork.
- May include evening or weekend hours based on client or program needs.
- Regular local travel required for client transportation and community engagement.
