As a Staff Accountant, you will assist in financial operations, client reporting, and FEC compliance while working under the guidance of Senior Accountants and Team Leads. This role requires strong attention to detail, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. You will play a key role in financial accuracy, transaction processing, and compliance support, ensuring that client needs are met efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Client Support

  • Assist in maintaining financial records, including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Support accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), payroll processing, and credit card reconciliations for clients.
  • Work closely with Senior Accountants to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to compliance standards.
  • Communicate with clients to address routine financial questions and document transactions accurately.

FEC & Compliance Reporting

  • Assist in preparing and filing FEC reports, ensuring compliance with federal deadlines.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation, ensuring transactions are properly recorded.
  • Work under the direction of Senior Accountants and Compliance Specialists to ensure all financial activity aligns with regulatory requirements.

Technology & Process Improvement

  • Utilize industry-leading accounting software (such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, and compliance platforms) to manage client finances.
  • Learn and implement best practices for financial processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work with internal teams to support reporting tools and workflow automation.

Onboarding & Development

  • Participate in a structured training program, gaining expertise in financial operations and compliance, which will ensure comprehensive readiness for specialized work in our field.
  • Work closely with senior team members for mentorship and skill-building.
  • Actively seek growth opportunities, developing expertise in compliance, client management, and financial reporting.

Performance & Growth

  • Maintain an average of 140 billable hours per month.
  • Participate in client meetings, financial reviews, and compliance discussions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred (CPA is a plus but not required).
  • 2-6 years of accounting experience, preferably in a client-facing or professional services environment.
  • Experience with FEC compliance, political finance, or campaign accounting is a plus, but not required.

Skills

  • Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong ability to analyze financial data, reconcile transactions, and ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with a strong ability to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address compliance challenges and client needs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client interactions and compliance documentation.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines.
  • A team player with a strong sense of accountability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
