  Position Summary

The C2L-PHL Group Facilitator is responsible for working with their supervisor(s) to develop and implement the C2L-PHL Program, Philadelphia's career-connected learning collaboration, which offers Service Learning (individual or group programming that fosters civic responsibility and applies learning through meaningful service to the community) Project-Based Learning (individual or group programming that requires youth to design, develop, and construct hands-on solutions to a problem or task), or Internship (individual or group placement at an organization in order to gain work experience and build skills) work experience for incentive-based payments.   This position helps youth and young adults develop the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to enter the workforce, careers, and community life. The C2L-PHL Group Facilitator is responsible for supporting the C2L-PHL Coordinator with recruiting students, creating and conducting work-readiness workshops, and tracking students' time and attendance for timely participant incentive-based payments. 

This position reports to the C2L-PHL Coordinator. This is an ONSITE position that will take place primarily at Congreso and designated school sites.

The C2L-PHL Group Facilitator applies the principles of the organization's signature service delivery approach, Primary Client Model (PCM), by promoting a positive employee/client-focused experience that is appreciative of the unique strengths, values and needs that each individual brings; and by using data to inform and drive decision making. Attention is given to compliance, quality assurance, and best practices as they relate to the role.

Essential Functions

  • Represents Congreso's mission, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and will be an ambassador of our work.
  • Recruits youth ages 12-18 to participate in the program during the school year and summer program and assists with completing student applications.
  • Collects student documentation, tracks student time and attendance, and inputs data into the funder database to ensure students are paid on time by the funder.
  • Creates and facilitates lesson plans and workshops to students in the program.
  • Provides time for students to complete homework and assists as needed.
  • Manages classroom(s) to encourage positive interaction among students, resolves conflicts non-violently.
  • Monitors student behavior and recommends any necessary corrective action to the Site Coordinator. 
  • Tracks students' progress and ensures students are successful in the program.
  • Ensures that classrooms and other school spaces are left in good condition each day and reports any loss or damage to the C2L-PHL Coordinator. 
  • Records and report any incidents that occur.

  • Ensures the appropriate handling of sensitive information and understanding for issues such as confidentiality, domestic abuse, child abuse, and mandated reporter requirements.
  • Adheres to all Congreso, departmental, programmatic, and security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Attends all Congreso trainings and in-services as required, including relevant professional groups to maintain professional, requisite knowledge and licensure.
  • Attends, participates, and facilitates relevant staff meetings to promote communication and execution of goals.
  • Ability to effectively use standard office equipment, including a variety of common software programs such as Office365, UNIDAD, and other customized databases.
  • Follows through on assignments, works in a timely manner, within established deadlines, and completes special projects specific to the function of the department, as needed or as directed by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse groups, in a compassionate, courteous, and respectful manner that fosters an inclusive environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including effective and respectful communication with individuals and groups.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) written and verbal skills a plus.
Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Experience, Education, and Qualifications

Minimum Education

High school diploma or GED/HISET. 

Minimum Experience

2 years' work experience in early childhood education or afterschool settings a plus. 

 

Certification/License: 

Mandated Reporter and VRA training certificates are required and may be completed post hire.
