We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineer to join our Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMC) team working as the technical authority overseeing graphite tooling design and processing.

What You Will Be Doing
With this new role, you'll have an opportunity to work on the following:- Responsible project team lead and technical authority for delivery of CVI (Chemical Vapor Infiltration) graphite tool/de-tool area. Deliver solution for the following:

  • Assembling parts into fixture
  • Removing parts from fixture
  • Weighing components
  • Humidity control equipment
  • Design and develop controlled assembly and disassembly equipment for semi-automated/high volume process that provides control over clamp application/engagement during assembly and minimizes risk of part delamination during disassembly
  • Design (using Siemens NX) and procure graphite tooling. Work with purchasing, inspection process owner(s) and development team to ensure condition of supply is geometrically conforming and will yield conforming product
  • Liaise with inspection process owner(s) to determine and deliver method and process for inspecting used graphite tooling for conformance of infiltration holes and inner geometry
  • Liaise with automation and digital to create graphite tool lifing strategy to ensure life of tooling is properly monitored
  • Liaise with CVI process engineers to develop coating fixed process for new tooling
  • Investigate and implement process to overhaul unserviceable graphite fixturing by cleaning accumulated coating
  • Understand root cause of graphite tool chipping/breakage and implement any corrective actions identified to reduce product cost

Basic Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Engineering with 4+ years of engineering experience, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 2+ years of engineering experience, OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering, OR
  • PhD in Science, Technology or Engineering, OR
  • In lieu of a degree 6+ years of engineering experience
  • To be considered for this opportunity, you must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience with Siemens NX
  • Experience designing tooling or fixturing for manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of GD&T and Drawing Interpretation
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and technologies
  • Experience with aerospace materials, tolerances and processes, PFMEA, PPAP, Process Excellence (six sigma), and Lean Manufacturing best practices is strongly desirable.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, as are interpersonal, facilitation, presentation, quantitative, analytical, organizational, and follow up skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines on multiple projects/programs.
  • Experience in the management and implementation of manufacturing technologies and processes using an MRCL or Technology Readiness Level (TRL) gated process, would be an advantage.
