TITLE OF POSITION: SERVICE COORDINATOR
TITLE OF IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Executive Director
Purpose and Summary of Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, in collaboration with the Property Manager, the Service Coordinator has the primary responsibility to access services for Burleigh County Housing Authority residents who are elderly and/or disabled so that their needs and concerns are adequately met.
Improve the viability of the housing development and improve the quality of life of residents. This will be accomplished by increasing residents' access to services and by facilitating their participation in programs that enhance their physical, social, and overall well-being.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Develop a Project Management Plan specifying the performance objectives, tasks and timeliness to be accomplished in this position.
- Provide a link/point of access to all agencies in the community.
- Develop effective working relationships with agencies that provide services to residents of BCHA.
- Coordinate activities between BCHA, residents and local service agencies.
- Educate residents on service availability, application procedures and client rights.
- Organize instructional workshops in health care, senior services and "life skills" in coordination with

- Working as a liaison between Property Manager and other office staff, maintenance personnel and outside service providers to resolve issues together while maintaining clients' confidentiality.

Application Preparation Assistance
- Ensure that the application package is fully completed before submission for final eligibility determination
- Assist renter in understanding program requirements and in securing necessary documentation
Renter Follow-Up
- Monitor status of renter's application and follow up as needed to support any required recertification
- Assist renter with communication challenges that may arise with their housing provider
Referral to Stability Resources
- Connect applicants to housing facilitators and financial planning resources to help support greater economic stability
- Connect renters to mediation services if the housing relationship would benefit from third party conflict resolution services
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field such as guidance and counseling, social work, psychology or human services.
- One year of experience working with people who are elderly and/or disabled.
- Ability to effectively initiate work projects and work independently.
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively with diverse populations particularly those persons who are low-income elderly and/or disabled.
- Working knowledge of human growth and development and behavioral patterns.
- Working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations/laws affecting persons who are elderly and/or disabled.
- Skills in establishing community and public relations.
- Ability in evaluating the success or failure of programs.
- Able to develop effective working relationships with co-workers, service agencies, and the public.
Hourly wage range is $18.00-$20.00 per hour depending on experience.
