Pharmacy Tech 1

BJC HealthCare System is hiring a Full-Time Pharmacy Technician I for our Home Care Infusion Pharmacy (710 S Boyle Ave., St. Louis, MO).

Position Details:

• Day Shift: Monday – Friday at 8 hour shifts (Hours of Operation 7:30am-6pm) with a Rotating schedule within this time range
• One Saturday shift every 5 weeks & will have a comp day off during the week if scheduled Saturday
• Sterile compounding of medications, including TPN compounding and hazardous compounding.
• Cleaning and assisting in maintenance activities of IV clean room.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician

Experience:

• 6 months - 1 year or more of pharmacy experience (preferred)
• Sterile compounding experience (preferred)
• Home infusion sterile compounding experience (preferred)
• CPhT certification (preferred)

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Active Missouri Pharmacy Technician License / State Broad Pharmacy (required): The license can be obtained quickly—simply submit your application now and expect approval within 3-4 weeks. Submit an application to the Missouri Board of Pharmacy (note: this is a license, not a certification).

• Must undergo a criminal background check

The Home Infusion Therapy Department of BJC Home Care Services works closely with physicians, patients and caregivers to enable patients to remain or return home while receiving intravenous medications. Our services include 24 hour on-call pharmacy and nursing services, comprehensive patient education materials, patient assessment and drug administration monitoring, and coordination of professional services including home care nursing and laboratory services.

Role Purpose

The Pharmacy Technician - Inpatient 1, under the direct supervision of a staff pharmacist and according to standard procedures, assists in dispensing and transporting medications. This entry level position learns to conduct non-sterile and/or sterile compounding and is responsible for maintaining the required documentation & records.

Responsibilities

• Maintains quality assurance standards and required documentation; maintains regulatory cleanliness compliance.
• Assists in the preparation of medication orders, to include workflow management, basic preparation & dispensing, and non-sterile compounding.
• Uses automated/electronic systems to manage product preparation, inventory, patient records, and regulatory compliance.
• Supports various inventory activities, to include inventory storage, ordering, rotating, beyond use dating, and cleanliness.
