SUMMARY
The BYCS Assistant Director is responsible to the church, under the direction of BYCS Director for assisting the Director and the teachers in providing a Biblically based program for the education of young children. The role is designed to fit within an overall preschool ministry vision of the spiritual development of leaders, preschoolers and their parents. The BYCS Assistant Director must align the Ministry of BYCS with the overall mission/vision of Brentwood Baptist Church, the Nextgen Ministries DNA and Ministry Safe Policies. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for directing the Summer Play Days program.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES may include but are not limited to the following:
- Assist the director in the day to day operations of BYCS.
- Help provide and maintain a Christian environment in which children grow physically, emotionally, mentally, socially and spiritually.
- Maintain accurate student records.
- Maintain enrollment.
- Maintain waiting list.
- Resource teachers with what they need to be successful.
- Communicate with parents through weekly emails, and monthly newsletters for BYCS and Summer Play Days.
- Be available, with an open-door policy for parents and teachers, council as needed.
- Assist Director in the registration process.
- Assist Director in recruiting, hiring, training, supervising and evaluating staff.
- General administration: answer/return calls, give tours, assist in classrooms when needed, take care of sick/hurt children.
- Prepare teacher's newsletters, daily sign-in sheets, allergy sheets, attendance sheets and other necessary documents.
- Attend BBC Staff Meeting and department meetings.
- Set yearly goals, develop a yearly self-development plan and update these goals/plans (three times a year).
- Maintain an accurate substitute list and secure substitutes when necessary for BYCS and Summer Play Days.
- Back up Director when she is not available.
- Obtain continuing education hours required by DHS.
- Reserve rooms and special equipment through e-space for BYCS and Summer Play Days.
- Submit tech-request, maintenance request and communication request when necessary.
- Lead and/or assist/support BYCS Mission Projects.
- Member of BYCS Ministry Team.
- Provide breakfast and/or lunch for special events and/or meetings.
- Lead Morning Prayer for BYCS staff. Provide prayer request to preschool staff and church prayer team as needed.
- Assist, counsel, and advise the weekday administration staff at other campuses.
Summer Play Days
- Develop and oversee the spring enrollment for the program.
- Recruit all needed staff who desires to use their experience in this program. This will include identification process, interview process, reference/background forms process, and training.
- Responsible for all administrative tasks including all human resource tasks; hiring all teachers, training, maintaining accurate records of each employee.
- Outline the daily schedule for the programs individual classrooms.
- Help manage Summer Play Day's budget.
- Provide leadership training for all staff related to policies and procedures, schedules, teacher expectations, budget and payroll, evacuation plan, curriculum, CPR and First Aid.
- Administrate the daily program. (June-July)
- Select needed curriculum.
- Communicate program needs to resource coordinator.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES may be included as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A mature Christian who is growing in their personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible Study, prayer and service.
- An understanding of weekday and preschool ministry as a foundational ministry of the church.
- Ability to relate well to adults in the ministry (parents of preschool children).
- Knowledge of developmental stages for children birth-5 years old and how they best learn.
- In agreement with and the ability to enforce the Policies and Procedures of the Preschool Ministry at Brentwood Baptist Church.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Proven leadership, relational and communication skills.
- 3-5 years of experience ministering to preschool children in a church setting.
- Experience managing 25+ people.
