Assistant Professor of Chemistry

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary: The Assistant Professor of Chemistry is a tenure-track faculty position primarily responsible for teaching introductory chemistry lecture and laboratory courses, as well as upper-division lecture and laboratory courses in analytical chemistry. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in analytical chemistry or related fields. The successful candidate is expected to establish a research program that actively involves undergraduate students, fostering their development in research skills with the goal of producing presentations and peer-reviewed publications.

The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Scholarship in the discipline, involvement with advising, and service to the university, department, and professional community are expected.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

• PhD in chemistry or a closely related discipline completed by the summer of 2026
• Ability and enthusiastic desire to teach introductory chemistry lecture and laboratory courses
• Ability to teach Analytical Chemistry and Instrumental Analysis lecture and laboratory courses
• Eagerness for working with and inspiring undergraduate students at all levels
• Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate collegially with colleagues to further programmatic, departmental, and university goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Postdoctoral teaching and research experience
