Director of Engineering

LOCATION: Sterling, VA (Remote lower 48 states)
SUMMARY: The Director of Engineering for the Electronic Security Systems Division provides strategic and technical leadership for the development and integration of advanced electronic security and force protection systems in support of U.S. government and defense programs. This position oversees a team of engineers and program managers responsible for delivering compliant, mission-critical security technologies including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, perimeter defense, and integrated command-and-control systems. The successful candidate will have a proven track record managing complex Electronic Security Systems (ESS0 engineering programs within a government contracting environment, with strong knowledge of DoD requirements, acquisition processes, and federal cybersecurity standards.

- Provide executive-level leadership for all engineering design, development, and sustainment activities within the Electronic Security Systems Division.
- Oversee system architecture, hardware and software engineering, integration, testing, and validation of electronic security systems for government and defense customers.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable standards and regulations, including DoD, DHS, NIST 800-series, DFARS , and related cybersecurity and export control requirements.
- Lead engineering efforts supporting bid and proposal (B&P) activities, including technical solutioning, cost estimation, and proposal writing.
- Develop and execute technology roadmaps and R&D initiatives aligned with government mission needs and contract requirements.
- Direct project managers and technical leads to ensure adherence to cost, schedule, and performance baselines. This includes regular program reviews for understanding costs, to date, Estimates to Complete (ETC), and maintaining project budgets
- Collaborate closely with Program Management, Contracts, Quality Assurance, and Security teams to meet all customer deliverables and compliance mandates.
- Foster relationships with government customers, primes, and subcontractors to support current programs and capture new business opportunities.
- Manage engineering budgets, staffing plans, and capital allocations to optimize program execution and profitability.
- Mentor and develop technical staff, promoting a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and mission focus.
- Must be able to travel as needed

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
- Lead ESS engineers to perform the full spectrum of ESS technical solution design, documentation (including drawing packages), procurement, installation, and maintenance
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- MBA or similar business experience strongly preferred
- Minimum 15 years of leadership experience in ESS implementations
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Skilled in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment
- Must have advanced proficiency in a variety of computer software applications in word processing and spreadsheets (MS Office: Word, Excel,PowerPoint)
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CLEARANCE:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required)
