Senior Desktop Systems Engineer (Endpoint & M365)

Hybrid | $140k–$160k

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Senior Desktop Systems Engineer to act as the technical authority for endpoint architecture, modern workplace tooling, and device security.

You'll lead the design and optimization of cloud-managed endpoint environments, drive Intune and MECM strategy, and partner closely with security and infrastructure teams to deliver a scalable, secure, and user-centric desktop experience. This is a hands-on senior role for someone comfortable owning complex environments, mentoring others, and influencing technical direction.

What You'll Do

  • Own endpoint architecture across Windows devices
  • Design, deploy, and maintain Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager (Autopilot, configuration profiles, compliance policies, Conditional Access integration, application deployment)
  • Lead SCCM / MECM administration and modernization
  • Drive device security hardening in partnership with SecOps
  • Architect and maintain M365 endpoint integrations (Azure AD / Entra ID, Conditional Access, identity-driven device controls)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve high-impact L3/L4 endpoint and systems escalations with deep root-cause analysis
  • Build and maintain gold images, provisioning workflows, and automation to reduce manual effort and improve consistency
  • Evaluate and implement new endpoint tools and technologies to improve performance, security, and user experience
  • Produce clear, reusable documentation for builds, policies, and operational processes
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, setting best practices and raising technical standards across the team
  • Act as a technical advisor to stakeholders, translating business needs into endpoint and workplace solutions

What You Bring

  • 7+ years in desktop systems, endpoint engineering, or EUC roles within enterprise or high-scale environments
  • Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and SCCM / MECM (including co-management)
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11, device provisioning, patching, and application lifecycle management
  • Expertise in endpoint security controls
  • Solid understanding of Azure AD / Entra ID, identity-driven access, and M365 integrations
  • Experience scripting and automating workflows (PowerShell strongly preferred)
  • Proven ability to own complex problems end-to-end and operate as a senior escalation point
  • Strong documentation habits and ability to design repeatable, scalable solutions
  • Confident communicator able to engage both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Intune / Endpoint-related certifications (MD-102, AZ-104, MS-102, or similar)
  • Experience with Zero Trust or modern workplace security models
  • Exposure to VDI/AVD, BYOD strategies, or global endpoint environments
  • Background working closely with security or compliance teams

Perks & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary
    ($140k–$160k)
  • Full benefits package
  • Generous PTO and mental health days
  • Opportunity to own and influence endpoint strategy at a senior level
  • Collaborative, engineering-led culture
