Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a Sr. Data Governance with experience in the financial services industry, specifically within private equity, to drive the development and execution of our enterprise data governance strategy. This individual contributor role will report directly to the VP of Data and work closely with cross-functional teams to identify, classify, and manage data domains, sub-domains, and assets across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build the Strategy: Design, implement, and own the enterprise data governance strategy, roadmap, and operational framework.
  • Lead the Program: Establish and Mature Data Governance Practice. You will not just manage the program; you will be its primary architect and evangelist.
  • Engage Stakeholders: Partner with C-level executives and senior leaders across business and technology to gain buy-in, communicate value, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Activate Stewardship: Define and formalize the roles of Data Owners and Data Stewards, providing them with the training and tools they need to succeed.
  • Define Standards: Author and enforce enterprise-wide data policies, standards, and definitions for critical data elements.
  • Drive Data Quality: Establish data quality metrics (KPIs), implement monitoring processes, and manage data remediation e􀆯orts.
  • Champion Metadata: Lead the metadata management strategy, including the adoption and optimization of our data catalog and business glossary to improve data discovery, literacy, and trust.
  • Ensure Compliance & Risk: Partner closely with Legal, Compliance, and Information Security to translate data privacy regulations (like GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
  • and security requirements into actionable data governance policies.
  • Measure Value: Define and report on key metrics that measure the business value, adoption, and impact of the data governance program.
  • Tools: Evaluate and implement governance tools such as Purview, Precisely, and Collibra.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in data governance within the financial services industry, with private equity experience required.
  • Strong understanding of data management frameworks (e.g., MDM, DCAM).
  • Hands-on experience with governance platforms.
  • Familiarity with GDPR and other data privacy regulations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a highly collaborative team.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with governance tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Precisely, and Collibra).
  • Knowledge of data quality management.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority across business and technical
