Instructional Designer
SET is seeking an Instructional Designer with an advanced design & development skillset to join the DRIVE team.
We are seeking an Instructional Designer who will play a pivotal role in crafting visually appealing, engaging and effective learning experiences. The successful candidate will leverage instructional design methodologies, learning strategies, and technology to develop curriculum content, training materials, training modules, and teaching aids. Additionally, we are seeking an individual with advanced level of proficiency with other tools to create videos, gamification, infographics, micro-learning, and interactive multimedia learning experiences.
This role involves collaboration with the internal business teams to comprehend scope, align requirements with business needs, and consult with various stakeholders, with a specific focus on experience in designing and developing content to prepare our associates for learning to navigate our new systems and processes as part of a large-scale technology modernization initiative.
- Work alongside many of SET's core business operations and project teams.
- Gain a strong operational knowledge of SET's core business functions across multiple departments, as well as their supporting processes and technologies.
- Learn first-hand how our business unit is evolving.
- Develop training content and supporting materials to prepare our associates for success across all levels within SET.
The SET Instructional Designer responsibilities will include but are not limited to the below:
- Design and develop modernized instructional materials, including e-learning courses, instructor-led training materials, job aids, multimedia presentations, and assessments using Articulate authoring tools.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to assess learning needs, identify learning objectives, and define training requirements.
- Support the product owners and track leads with the planning and development of their training plans and materials for their specific track.
- Apply instructional design principles, learning theories, and adult learning principles to create effective and engaging learning experiences.
- Engage with stakeholders to gain insights into the business context and ensure content is tailored to meet specific objectives and outcomes.
- Stay ahead of emerging trends in Learning Experience Design and AI applications as accelerators, actively incorporating innovative approaches into content development to ensure learning and experiences are personalized, adaptive, and engaging.
- Design hybrid environment content, suitable for both virtual and in-person delivery, applying adult learning theories to reach diverse audiences effectively.
- Demonstrate strong writing skills to articulate concepts in an understandable and engaging manner.
- Conduct thorough reviews and quality assurance checks to ensure instructional materials meet established standards and specifications.
- Collaborate with team members and technical resources to integrate technology-based solutions, such as simulations, videos, and interactive elements.
- Quickly adjust to feedback incorporating it into strategies and deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience (8-10 years) working as an instructional designer or in a similar role, preferably in a corporate or organizational setting using modern learning tools (microlearning, video, gamification, infographics, and interactive media).
- Solid understanding of instructional design principles, learning theories, and adult learning methodologies.
- Proficiency in using instructional design tools and software, such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Creative Cloud, or similar elearning authoring tools.
- Strong multimedia skills, including creating engaging visuals, animations, and interactive elements.
- Knowledge of working with learning management systems (LMS) and experience in designing online learning platforms.
- Workday experience a plus.
- Time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts, stakeholders, and team members.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality instructional materials.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and timelines.
- Demonstrated collaboration with multiple team members and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and adherence to timelines.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, tailoring content to meet specific objectives based on a thorough understanding of stakeholder needs.
- Extensive knowledge and practical application of instructional design methodologies for adult learners, resulting in the creation of high-quality curriculum content and diverse learning assets.
- Strong writing skills for clear communication of complex concepts in a simple business manner.
- Proficiency in creating visually appealing learning materials, including PowerPoint presentations, quick reference guides, and multimedia-rich resources to enhance overall content effectiveness.
- Flexibility in working with team members to adjust materials and approach based on feedback and input from key stakeholders.
- Strong self-starter able to work with minimal direct supervision.
