Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Product & Engineering is responsible for executing the design, product and technical build, support and maintenance of a key product or limited product portfolio, as well as the supporting technology capabilities and infrastructure that support that product in an Agile driven environment. Most often leading teams of 20+ FTE with skip level employees, and may lead teams of onshore and offshore contracting companies. Direct reporting line may include team(s) of Product Manager(s), Product Owner(s), technical and solution architecture, DevOps management, UI / UX, Test, as well as full stack Software Development.

Senior Manager is also responsible for attracting, hiring, retaining a high performing, full stack, team of Product Managers, Software Developers, architects, other members of technical staff, and Managers to support products and platforms. This role is also directly accountable for developing strong and productive relationships outside your direct teams with Customer or Customer representative teams, partner organizations, dependent engineering teams, and supporting vendors.

The Sr Manager actively leads the architecture and design of various software components focused on creating applications that leverage technologies such as virtualization, micro services, Cloud, and AI (GenAI and ML) platforms and technologies.

Job Responsibilities

  • Effectively manages technical product and engineering teams to achieve results by providing appropriate direction, timely developmental feedback and coaching, tools to do job by role and conducting performance reviews and conversations. Creating training, career development plans and ensures assignments with increasing levels of responsibility Monitors and measures work tasks to ensure deliverables are provided on time and within budget.
  • Defines and drives continuous development practice improvements across technical disciplines and organizations (e.g. team structure, roles, processes, tooling, security & compliance).
  • Oversees technical relationships with multiple assigned vendors, including driving features and function requests for inclusion in future product releases.
  • Driving and owning current and future state technical road map in collaboration with Design and Enterprise Architecture and building/maintining cross organizational teams -
  • Interviews and hires qualified managers and team members, striving to improve T-Mobile bench strength and augmenting product or project teams with contract staff when required.

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science, Engineering, IT or equivalent experience. (Required)
  • 7-10 years - Relevant Product Management experience in an agile software product development environment.
  • 2-4 years - Experience in a leadership role.
  • 2-4 years - Experience managing teams of 5 or more resources in direct reporting relationship in a Product Management organization.

Preferred Experience

  • 1 – 2 years of performing AI Adversarial Testing
  • 2 years of experience in developing and deploying AI applications.
  • 4 years of experience with Python, Node/Java, Web/REST/GraphAPIs, AWS/GCP/Azure, Object Storage, SQL and NoSQL, Logging
  • 1-2 years of AI experience with PyTorch/TensorFlow, Vector DB, Experience in building AI Assistants.
  • 1-2 years of experience with LLM APIs: Open AI/Gemini APIs/Azure Open AI
  • Cloud Platforms* (AI): Google Vertex AI/Azure AI/AWS SageMaker
  • Prompt Engineering

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Agile Methodologies Proven success in delivering software with Agile Scrum methodologies and other commonly used tools. (Required)
  • Technical Writing Strong requirements elicitation, and proven writing skills including the ability to write concisely and clearly for different audiences. (Required)
  • Agile Project Management Experience with Agile backlog/project management tools. (Required)
  • Collaboration Experience with successive elaboration and ability to develop Initiatives, Features and User Stories that the DevOps teams can ingest. (Required)
  • Technology Experience in delivering large and complex business/technology initiatives. (Required)
  • Communication Proven ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with Leadership, while employing a high degree of collaboration and influence.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences including executives and non-technical leaders. (Required)
- Business Analysis Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to identify/analyze/synthesize product use data. (Required)

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) Scrum Product Owner Certification (CSPO) (Preferred)

Base Pay Range: $148,000 - $266,900Corporate Bonus Target: 20%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
