Job Summary

B&A is looking for an Engineer IV to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. We are seeking someone with experience integrating hardware/software systems in environments like NCS or ICS. Candidates should have strengths in cybersecurity, DevOps, or machine learning, and be proficient in languages such as Java, Python, Go, or C++. This role focuses on delivering secure, scalable, and intelligent systems for critical infrastructure. 

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of secure, scalable, and intelligent hardware/software systems in mission-critical environments.
  • Integrate and troubleshoot systems within NCS, ICS, warehouse automation, and other complex infrastructure platforms.
  • Develop high-quality software using Java, Python, Go, C++, and support modeling/simulation using MATLAB, R, or Python.
  • Apply cybersecurity principles, DevOps practices, or machine learning techniques to enhance system performance and resilience.
  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics, network diagrams, and system architectures to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Contribute to system engineering processes using CMMI, OMG, UAF, or DoDAF MBSE standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and data specialists, to meet mission and technical objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership, participate in design reviews, and support documentation and knowledge transfer activities.

Education and Experience

  • Master's degree (MS) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Science, AI, or a related technical field from an ABET-accredited program. 
  • 10+ years of professional engineering experience in systems, electrical, or electronics engineering.
  • Hands-on experience integrating and troubleshooting hardware/software systems in environments such as NCS, ICS, warehouse automation, or other complex infrastructure platforms.
  • Experience developing software in Java, Python, Go, or C++.
  • Experience applying cybersecurity principles, DevOps practices, or machine learning techniques in mission-critical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, network diagrams, and system architecture documentation.
  • 5+ years applying CMMI, OMG, UAF, or DoDAF MBSE standards (preferred).
  • Technical leadership experience, including participation in design reviews and mentoring junior engineers.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Java, Python, Go, or C++ for software development.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure system design.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD workflows, and infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation tools such as MATLAB, R, or Python.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics, network diagrams, and system architectures.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills in complex, mission-critical environments.
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and participate in design reviews and knowledge transfer.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with machine learning, AI techniques, or predictive analytics.
  • Familiarity with CMMI, OMG, UAF, or DoDAF MBSE methodologies.
  • Background in large-scale or complex system environments such as control systems, automation, or critical infrastructure.
  • Experience with Agile development frameworks; Agile Developer or Certified Scrum Developer certification preferred.
  • Advanced expertise in system integration, cybersecurity tools, or automation frameworks.
  • Additional experience with analytical tools, simulation environments, or data science workflows.
  • Strong technical documentation, requirements analysis, and systems engineering process skills.

Security Clearance

  • Active Secret Clearance

Certifications

  • One of the following DOD IAT-Level III Certifications: CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, or GCIH.
