We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Insurance Authorization Specialist to join our Diagnostic Department. This role is essential to ensuring timely, accurate pre-certifications and authorizations for diagnostic testing, imaging, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to scheduling diagnostic procedures.
  • Obtain prior authorizations and pre-certifications from insurance payers.
  • Communicate authorization status and requirements with patients, providers, and scheduling teams.
  • Maintain accurate documentation within eClinicalWorks (EHR).
  • Track pending authorizations and follow up proactively to prevent claim delays or denials.
  • Coordinate with billing and clinical teams to ensure compliance with payer guidelines.
  • Handle confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or medical office certification preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in medical insurance verification or authorizations, ideally in a diagnostic or imaging environment.
  • Strong understanding of insurance payers, CPT/ICD-10 codes, and pre-certification processes.
  • Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW) a plus.
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
