Job Overview
Our Medical Records Clerk is responsible for requesting, managing, and maintaining client health information by organizing, filing, and processing medical records. Key duties include entering data and saving records into electronic files, verifying the accuracy and completeness of records, and handling requests for information while ensuring strict confidentiality and adherence to privacy regulations. This role requires strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency with computer systems, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Data entry and management: Enter client demographic, medical history, test results, and other health information into our system.
- Record maintenance: Assemble, redact, file, and maintain medical records according to established standards.
- Quality assurance: Review patient records for completeness and accuracy, identifying and correcting missing or incorrect information.
- Request processing: Request medical records for clients from providers, physicians, and other entities, verifying the legitimacy of the request and ensuring proper authorization.
- Scanning and filing: Scan physical documents, such as all medical and billing records, lab reports, and x-rays, into our system.
- Confidentiality and compliance: Maintain the strict confidentiality of client information and comply with all applicable privacy laws and regulations.
- Clerical support: Perform other clerical duties as assigned, such as drafting, client follow-up, maintaining reports or assisting administrative staff with record-related tasks.
Required skills and qualifications
- Education: A High school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience: One year of experience in a medical records or law office environment preferred.
- Technical skills: Proficiency with computers, scanners, and legal systems is essential.
- Attention to detail: The ability to be meticulous and concentrate for extended periods is critical for accuracy.
- Organizational skills: Strong organizational skills are necessary to maintain accurate and orderly files and systems.
- Communication: Ability to speak English and Spanish fluently, as well as good written and verbal communication skills, are needed for interacting with staff and clients.
- Interpersonal skills: The ability to work effectively with colleagues, Attorneys, and other personnel is important.
- Confidentiality: A strong understanding of the importance of maintaining client privacy is a must.

Pay: $ $18.00 per hour
