ESSENTIAL FUNCTION OF THE POSITION: The Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the buildings, grounds, and equipment of Eden Village. Paint and maintain exterior and interior areas of campus which can include garden homes, apartments, resident rooms, offices and common areas. Providing security services, and acting as an advocate for Residents and/or family members. Light drywall duties and other generic maintenance work will be completed in this position.

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND POSITION ACTIVITIES:

1) Maintains the buildings, grounds, and equipment of Eden Village.

  • Completes work orders submitted by Residents/staff members and other repair assignments as directed by the Environmental Services Coordinator.
  • Actively looks for additional maintenance/repair/upgrade opportunities in order to improve the appearance and functional effectiveness of buildings, equipment, etc.
  • Participates in cleaning/sanitation activities as assigned to include but not be limited to washing floors, providing floor maintenance (stripping/waxing/buffing) as assigned.
  • Assures effective, thorough, and timely removal of trash at multiple locations.
  • Participates in landscaping and grounds maintenance as assigned to include but not be limited to snow removal, ice control, parking lot maintenance, bush trimming, weeding, planting, etc.
  • Understands and demonstrates compliance with all regulatory rules and guidelines mandated by the Illinois Department of Public Health, the Life Safety Code, OSHA, etc.
  • Participates in risk management activities and programs.
  • May participate in maintenance and/or cleaning of facility vehicles to include cars, vans, and bus.

2) Paint and maintain exterior and interior areas of campus which can include garden homes, apartments, resident rooms, offices and common areas of Eden Village.

  • Performs skilled painting work in the preparation, patching, finishing, and maintaining of all building structures; moving furniture and equipment as necessary.
  • Completing painting work and clean up in a timely manner.
  • May be requested to stain woodwork, power wash exterior fixtures or remove wallpaper.
  • Responsible for calculating amounts of required materials and purchasing product from select vendors.
  • Protects all nearby furnishings and building materials before and during every painting job, including carpets, cabinetry, outlet covers, lighting fixtures and landscaping.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the facilities maintenance by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.

3) Provides security services.

  • Makes regular rounds of Eden Village property as scheduled to enhance Resident/staff safety.
  • Watches for children playing on the grounds and politely redirects them.
  • Provides oversight for families using grounds or building spaces for pre-planned or spontaneous visiting and redirects in situations of aggressive/loud behaviors or other inappropriate activities.
  • Maintains a log of Resident/staff parking stickers/numbers and observes parking lots for inappropriate parking. Tickets vehicles and/or arranges for towing as necessary.

Please note that Eden Village is located in Glen Carbon, IL, right next to Edwardsville, IL. We are a quick 20-25 minutes from St. Louis MO, Alton IL, Granite City IL, and even closer to Maryville IL, Collinsville IL, and Troy IL. Located close to major highways/interstates.

Pay: $16.00 per hour
