About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting and Payroll Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for managing payroll processes, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate has a strong background in accounting and payroll, excellent analytical skills, and a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process weekly payroll for employees accurately and on time.
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefits.
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports.
  • Handle employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Perform general accounting duties including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end financial close processes.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure accurate employee data and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in payroll processing and accounting.
  • Proficient in payroll and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, ADP, Paychex, Gusto).
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws and accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in multi-state payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with benefits administration and HR processes.
  • Certification such as CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus.
