Title: Senior Project Manager (Performance & Data Initiatives)
- This position is based at Peterson Park.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS:
Under executive direction, is responsible for providing management of high priority initiatives and programs that cross multiple departments or functional areas. Oversees projects that support the District's Performance Management and Budget functions, ensuring that data-driven strategies and process improvements are effectively implemented. Collaborates with leadership to translate District priorities into measurable performance initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. Performs related duties as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Oversees the planning and execution of complex, cross-departmental initiatives and projects.
- Provides ongoing review and updates of activities on assigned projects and initiatives at the direction of the department head.
- Works with departments to support implementation of high priority data and performance initiatives.
- Builds and coordinates project teams to advance organizational goals and ensure alignment with General Superintendent's priorities.
- Prepares reports, presentations, and briefing materials for the General Superintendent and executive leadership.
- Coordinates with the Director of Performance Management and the Director of Budget and Management to align data, performance, and resource strategies.
- Develops and applies data-driven problem-solving methods; works with departments to identify and analyze key metrics that inform performance initiatives.
- Utilizes data visualization and automation tools to improve reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Recommends strategies for data integration, performance tracking, and process optimization.
- Supports decision-making through analysis of quantitative and qualitative data related to District operations and outcomes.
Ensures that all assigned projects adhere to applicable standards, timelines, and budget parameters.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field supplemented by nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience in project management, performance management, or data-driven operations, preferably in a public sector agency.
- A Master's Degree in one of the above fields may substitute for two years of the required experience.
- In the absence of a related Bachelor's Degree, candidates may qualify with eleven (11) years of progressively responsible experience in project management, performance management, or data-driven operations, including work demonstrating equivalent knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple high-impact projects concurrently.
- Proven skill in building teams and coordinating work across departments for successful outcomes.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and data visualization or automation platforms (e.g. Power BI, Power Automate, SharePoint).
- Familiarity with database management, data integration concepts, and workflow automation.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to prioritize projects and see them through to conclusion.
- Demonstrated skill in working effectively with high-level internal leadership.
- Ability to handle certain sensitive information discretely and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to plan, prepare and track budgets as needed for special projects or services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
General work area is indoors, in a smoke-free environment, with controlled temperature and fluorescent lighting. Performs tasks that involve use of hands to finger, handle or feel, reaching, walking, bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching and sitting. May perform lifting tasks up to 15 pounds.
