In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of Photovoltaic Solar systems and their components for residential and commercial properties. We're looking for individuals with electrical experience, strong practical judgment, and a solid work ethic to deliver high-quality solutions to our valued customers. Job Summary:
As a Photovoltaic Solar Installer, you will be at the forefront of installing and servicing cutting-edge photovoltaic solar systems on both ground mounts and rooftops. Your primary focus will be on delivering high-quality, efficient, and safe installations while providing exceptional service to our clients. The ideal candidate will have experience in solar installations, roofing, and electrical work and will thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role is critical in ensuring that each project meets the company's high standards for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities - Include but are not limited to:
System Installation:
- Rooftop and Ground-Mount Systems: Install Photovoltaic Solar Systems; from solar panels, racking systems, mounting hardware and other components on a variety of roof types (shingle, tile, metal, and flat roofs) and pitches (up to 8:12). Secure all components to meet safety and building code requirements.
- Electrical Work: Perform all electrical connections, including wiring panels, connecting inverters, running conduits, and integrating system components into existing electrical systems. Ensure proper grounding and compliance with local electrical codes.
- System Alignment: Conduct precise layout and alignment of panels and equipment to maximize energy production based on site-specific conditions.
Troubleshooting & Maintenance:
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to PV systems, including wiring, panel alignment, inverter function, or connectivity problems.
- Proactively perform diagnostics and implement corrective actions to maintain peak system performance.
- Perform system inspections to identify signs of wear, damage, or malfunction and recommend necessary repairs.
Site Preparation & Cleanup:
- Prepare job sites by organizing materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring safety measures are in place.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work environments before, during, and after installations.
- Remove debris and secure leftover materials to maintain professional and hazard-free job sites.
Customer Interaction:
- Communicate with customers during site visits, explaining installation processes, answering questions, and addressing concerns.
- Provide operational instructions and education on system use and care after installation to ensure customer satisfaction.
Team Collaboration & Leadership:
- Work both independently and collaboratively with other team members to meet productivity goals and complete installations efficiently.
- Actively support team members by sharing knowledge, assisting with challenging tasks, and fostering a positive work environment.
Compliance & Safety:
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and fall protection systems.
- Attend regular safety training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and company standards.
- Ensure installations comply with all local building codes, electrical codes, and manufacturer guidelines.
Ongoing Training & Development:
- Participate in weekly team meetings and training sessions to stay current on evolving solar technologies, safety procedures, and installation techniques.
- Pursue professional certifications and skill development opportunities provided by SESA.
Material Preparation:
- Ensure all necessary materials and equipment are properly prepared and loaded onto the work vehicle each day. Verify that all required items for the job are readily available and brought to the job site to support a smooth and efficient installation process.
Tool and Vehicle Maintenance:
- Regularly inspect and maintain tools and company vehicles, ensuring that they are in safe working condition. Report any equipment issues promptly for timely repair.
Documentation and Support:
- Capture clear and accurate job site pictures and any other requested information, such as system specs and installation progress, and provide them to the office team or upload them to the customer portal to help track progress and ensure proper follow-up.
Additional Duties:
- Proactively resolve onsite challenges, such as weatherproofing issues, system integration difficulties, or unexpected site conditions.
- Perform any other duties as required to meet project needs and company goals, ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Skills:
- Solar Installation Experience: 1–2 years of PV solar installation experience is preferred, but not required. Familiarity with racking systems, inverters, and electrical components is a plus.
- Electrical Knowledge: Understanding of electrical systems, wiring, and conduit bending is essential. Must be comfortable reading and interpreting wiring schematics, blueprints, plans, and installation diagrams..
- Construction Knowledge: Experience in general construction, roofing, framing, or carpentry is highly desirable.
- Problem Solving: Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues independently.
- Comfortable working on rooftops and climbing ladders with the ability to perform tasks safely at heights.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Common sense and a solid work ethic to contribute to both independent tasks and collaborative team efforts.
Language Skills:
- Must be proficient in English. Being bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and handle heavy materials.
- Comfortable working in extreme weather conditions, including heat, cold, or humidity.
- Ability to work in small crawl spaces and attics.
- Ability to bend conduit unassisted, safely handle tools, and work with various materials like ladders, solar panels, plumbing, and electrical equipment.
- Confidently climb 40' ladders and work on roofs with pitches up to 8:12.
Certifications:
- OSHA certification is preferred but not required.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening.
- Willingness to travel within the State of Florida as needed.
- Ability to work Monday–Friday, 7 AM–6 PM, with occasional overtime and weekend work to complete jobs. Must also be willing to travel out of town with overnight stays when required.
