We are currently seeking a full-time Veterinary Triage Assistant to join our weekend Emergency & ICU team, Friday–Sunday, 7 AM–7 PM.

Location: 6393 Lee Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37421

Schedule: Full-Time | Friday – Sunday, 7 AM – 7 PM

Department: Emergency & Critical Care

What You'll Do

As a Triage Assistant, you'll play a key role in helping our emergency and ICU teams manage incoming cases and provide compassionate, efficient care.

  • Triage and assess incoming emergency patients
  • Gather patient histories, vitals, and presenting concerns
  • Safely restrain animals during exams, procedures, and treatments
  • Assist veterinarians and technicians with diagnostics, lab work, and medication administration
  • Dispense medications under supervision
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked treatment areas
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with clients and team members
  • Provide comfort and support to patients during their stay

Experience is not required, but animal care experience is preferred.

We're looking for someone with a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Because we are a 24-hour facility, occasional nights and holidays may be required.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

We're seeking a motivated, compassionate individual who loves working with animals and is eager to grow in emergency veterinary medicine.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • At least 6 months of experience in animal handling, veterinary, or medical/hospital environments (preferred)
  • Comfortable working with dogs and cats of all temperaments and sizes
  • Strong communication skills and a team-player attitude
  • Ability to multi-task and stay calm under pressure in a busy emergency setting
  • Demonstrated empathy, emotional intelligence, and professionalism when interacting with clients
  • Willingness to learn new skills and follow detailed medical instructions
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts as needed in a 24/7 hospital environment
