Assistant Director, Childcare Center

The Assistant Director of the Childcare Center supports the Center Director in the daily management and operation of the childcare facility. This position assists in overseeing staff, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations, implementing educational programming, and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment for children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director in day-to-day operations and administrative tasks of the center.
  • Help supervise and support teachers and support staff, including scheduling, mentoring, and evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations, health and safety guidelines, and center policies.
  • Maintain accurate records ( staff credentials, food program etc.).
  • Support curriculum development and implementation aligned with developmental milestones.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Conduct tours for prospective families and assist with enrollment processes.
  • Step into classroom settings when needed to maintain ratios or support staff.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and professional development of staff.
  • Handle parent concerns or conflicts with professionalism and care.
  • Assist in budget monitoring, supply inventory, and ordering materials.
  • Help plan and execute events, staff meetings, and parent engagement activities.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a licensed childcare setting; prior leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and state childcare regulations.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Ability to pass background checks as required by state regulations.
