Overview
The Lidar Technical Expert develops, refines, and supports geospatial data production workflows. Collaborating with developers, the Technical Expert leverages skills and ideas from throughout the data production teams to initiate and promote continuous process improvement. Collaborating with Sales, the Technical Expert refines product offerings in response to client needs. The Technical Expert also promotes NV5 and maintains industry awareness by contributing to marketing efforts and attending conferences. For this position we are looking for someone with extensive experience processing lidar datasets and producing deliverables.
Work Environment:
- Location: NV5 Portland, OR office
- Potential travel - Travel a few times a year may be required for technical meetings, conferences, and sales support

Responsibilities
- Develops or provides guidance on technical workflows and methodology
- Technical troubleshooting and training
- Provides guidance to technical leads on best practices, standards, workflows, and communication
- Technical coordination with other production centers
- Supports project scoping and requirements gathering
- Process improvement needs-identification, design, implementation, and refinement
- Collaborates with Solutions Developers to automate processes
- Collaborates with IT to identify hardware requirements and set up processing environments
- Leads testing and implementation of new software
- Tracks industry developments and attends technical conferences
- Maintains current knowledge of industry standard software and data standards
- Collaborates with Sales to understand customer needs and refine products
- Assists with cost estimation and new product pricing
- Assists with creation and updates of standard technical proposal language
- Collaborates with marketing to develop promotional materials

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 3+ years' experience working with lidar data in a professional environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or higher in science or engineering
- 5+ years' experience working with lidar data in a professional environment
- Experience producing and analyzing lidar derived geospatial data for overhead utilities
- Knowledge of ESRI, Microstation, Lastools, Terrasolid, and PLS-CADD software
- Python scripting and workflow automation
- ASRPS Certification
