Small animal veterinary clinic in Grover Beach specializing in ultrasound and radiology is seeking a veterinary technician or assistant with minimum 6 months experience in the veterinary field.

The position offered is part time or full time Monday-Friday, weekends off. Compensation is based on experience, ranging $24-29 dollars per hour.

A self motivated individual, with strong communication skills is desired. Position includes extensive client interaction, so strong social skills and ability to communicate with clients by phone and in person is expected.

The office is comfortable, with a very small staff, so the position offered requires a variety of skills and a friendly attitude.

Applicant will need to possess the following skills:

Medical: Proper patient restraint and handling, this is an imperative skill and necessary for the position. Collecting vitals and preparing patients for their treatments and procedures. Familiarity with injectable medications and sedatives. Preparing and administering injectable medications, phlebotomy, and IV catheterization. Monitoring patient vitals under sedation.

Office: Basic computer skills and medical record keeping. Scanning, faxing, and emailing reports, preparing documents for scheduled patients.

Client Interaction: Scheduling appointments, appointment check in/out, collecting payments and processing transactions by all methods.

Cleaning: Keeping the hospital clean and sanitary. Cleaning, stocking, and organizing. Willingness to participate in daily office/hospital chores, sweeping, mopping, laundry, trashes etc. Monthly hospital checklists. Daily opening and closing procedures.

Desiring an applicant with a good sense of humor, warm social attributes, and a great work ethic to join the team. The environment is relaxed and fun with efficiency and hard work a priority. Applicant should be prepared to learn additional skills, manage assigned tasks, and assist the veterinarian and staff.
