Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our culinary team. In this pivotal role, you will assist the Executive Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. Your leadership will inspire your team to deliver exceptional dining experiences in a fast-paced, fine dining environment. Duties
- Assist the Executive Chef in planning and executing menus that reflect culinary excellence and creativity, including special event and banquet offerings.
- Supervise kitchen staff during shifts, providing guidance on food preparation, presentation, and safety protocols to ensure consistency and quality.
- Manage food production processes from ingredient sourcing to final plating, ensuring adherence to recipes and portion control standards.
- Oversee inventory management by monitoring stock levels, conducting regular audits, and placing orders to minimize waste while maintaining sufficient supplies for all service periods.
- Enforce strict food safety and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of ingredients.
- Coordinate catering and banquet services by preparing large quantities of food efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Lead shift management activities such as scheduling staff rotations, assigning tasks, and ensuring smooth operational flow during busy hours.
- Collaborate with the restaurant management team on menu planning, pricing strategies, and promotional initiatives to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior kitchen staff to foster professional growth and maintain a motivated team environment.
- Maintain a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, open communication, and a passion for culinary excellence.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in full service establishments with a strong background in food production and kitchen management.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience leading culinary teams in fast-paced settings such as restaurants or catering operations.
- Extensive banquet experience with knowledge of large-scale food preparation for events.
- Strong understanding of dietary requirements and food handling safety standards.
- Skilled in inventory control, menu planning, shift management, and food service operations.
- Excellent leadership abilities with a focus on team management and motivating staff toward shared goals.
- Proficiency in culinary techniques including cooking methods, food presentation, and catering services.
- Familiarity with restaurant management systems and inventory management tools is preferred.
- Experience working within the food industry with an emphasis on hospitality standards is highly desirable.
