Gain hands-on experience in site design and land development while collaborating with industry experts who are invested in your professional development, mentorship, and growth as an emerging engineer.   About the Role Bohler's office in Richmond, VA is looking for a motivated Civil Engineering Intern (Land Development) who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to real-world site design projects. As a Summer 2026 intern, you will gain insight into the daily operations of a civil engineering firm and understand the complete site development process, from concept to construction. By working alongside engineers, designers, and project managers, you will gain hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, supporting the design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments.   What You'll DoExperience the day-to-day operations of a civil engineering and site design firmLearn the stages of the land development and site design processEnhance your technical skills with hands-on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design:Concept plansGrading plansStormwater management plansUtility system plansSoil erosion and sediment control plansCollaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forwardResearch zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictionsVisit sites to observe field conditions and see the engineering process in actionParticipate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements   What We OfferA supportive and collaborative environment focused on learning and professional growthExposure to a variety of land development and site design projectsMentorship and hands-on training from experienced engineers and project leadersOpportunities to explore the civil engineering profession and gain insight into real client workNetworking opportunities through office events, community engagement, and team-building activities   What You'll BringEnrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems Engineering, or a related fieldEffective written and verbal communication skillsA self-starter attitude with the ability to work both independently and collaborativelyFamiliarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred; training provided if not yet proficient)Curiosity and motivation to learn within a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentInterest in civil site design, land development, and problem-solving
