Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support clinical operations across various specialties, including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and outpatient clinics. This role involves providing exceptional patient care, assisting with medical procedures, and supporting administrative functions within a dynamic healthcare environment. Experience in hospital settings, emergency medicine, or trauma centers is highly valued. The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring smooth patient flow and delivering high-quality healthcare services.
Duties
- Assist with patient intake, including collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms
- Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures in outpatient or inpatient settings
- Support physicians during medical procedures, including medication administration and basic life support when necessary
- Operate EHR systems to accurately document patient information and medical records
- Assist with ICD coding and documentation to ensure proper billing and record-keeping
- Support laboratory tasks such as specimen collection or X-ray preparation as needed
- Provide patient service by answering questions, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort throughout visits
- Support hospital-based care in settings such as Geriatrics, PICU, or Level I/II Trauma Centers when applicable
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas following safety protocols
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and patient care procedures
- Experience working in dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine environments is preferred
- Proficiency with EHR systems and ICD coding for accurate documentation
- Ability to perform intake assessments and measure vital signs accurately
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as X-ray or OR experience are a plus
- Excellent patient service skills with compassionate communication abilities
- Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient care workflows across various specialties including internal medicine and medical-surgical units
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and hospital experience preferred
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced settings such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II trauma centers
