Summary:
The Clinical Practice Specialist role is responsible for the day-to-day activities related to recovering organs for transplant, including but not limited to completing donor evaluations, authorization process, and comprehensive donor management. Additionally, it also includes the day-to-day oversight of the STA Recovery Center with specific focus on directing donor management and advance practice procedures, such as liver biopsy, bronchoscopy, and line placement, as to maximize the gift of organ donation. The incumbent develops and maintains expertise associated with on-site donor evaluation and recovery practices to include, but not limited to, donor maintenance, organ preservation and organ distribution logistics. Related duties will include being knowledgeable of individual hospital and OPTN policies related to the donation of all anatomical gifts; able to identify key personnel who can improve and maintain a hospital's level of participation in facilitating potential organ and tissue donors; and performing activities related to the initial and surgical recovery elements of the donation process.
