YOUR ROLE: The Senior Network Engineer at Promega is responsible for leading the architecture, deployment, and ongoing management of secure, scalable, and highly available network infrastructure that aligns with business objectives and industry best practices. This role handles routine administration, resolves operational issues, and identifies incremental improvements while also guiding junior team members and supporting cross-functional collaboration. Through thoughtful, security-conscious practices and a focus on automation and continuous improvement, the Senior Network Engineer helps shape Promega's technical environment and drive network strategy across the organization
CORE DUTIES:
1. Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-efficient network infrastructure solutions primarily in our Cisco enterprise network and hybrid environments.
2. Participate in network platform architecture decisions and strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and security frameworks.
3. Oversee administration and lifecycle management of critical network services, including enterprise LAN / WAN environments ensuring high availability, business continuity, security and performance tuning of network-based services.
4. Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex network-related incidents.
5. Leads network technology upgrades or expansion projects including hardware, software, and integration testing to ensure network reliability and availability with minimal interruption. Monitors network utilization and diagnoses performance issues.
6. Familiarity with hybrid environments (Azure Stack, on-prem integration).
7. Responsible for the administration, optimization, and lifecycle management of enterprise infrastructure platforms including storage systems, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), hypervisors (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), and backup and recovery solutions.
8. Act as a key advisor to IT leadership on network strategy and investments. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior administrators and IT peers.
9. Adhere to departmental and company values, processes, and standards.
10. Comply with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business.
12. Work independently and contributes to Information Technology projects and tasks as assigned and exhibits strong time management skills.
13. Embrace change by adjusting priorities, workflows, and tools in response to evolving team and project needs. Apply feedback constructively and seek out opportunities to improve processes or skills.
14. Establish and refine proactive monitoring and alerting practices using cloud-native tools and third-party solutions to maintain uptime and performance SLAs across multiple environments.
14. Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for cloud services support, incident management, and disaster recovery.
15. Demonstrate clear and respectful communication with team members. Actively participate in meetings and/or lead, share relevant information, and seek clarification when needed. Collaborate effectively with peers to support shared goals and resolve basic issues.
16. Support cross-functional business areas by providing input and analysis related to position.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Associate degree in IT or equivalent work experience.
2. Minimum 5–7 years of progressive experience in network systems administration or engineering.
3. Advanced experience managing L2/L3 technologies - VLANs, VLAN tagging, Spanning Tree, VRF, Routing Protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, ISIS)..
4. Experience with Cisco Software-Defined Networking (SDN) architecture and support.
5. Expertise in overlay and underlay technologies used for network segmentation and isolation (VXLAN, GRE, SD-WAN).
6. Strong background in Cisco campus and datacenter technologies (On-Prim, Hybrid and Cloud). This includes Cisco Catalyst and Nexus routers, switches, firewalls and wireless solutions. Also, Cisco application stack (e.g. Cisco DNA, ISE, FTD, Secure endpoint)
7. Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional projects and mentor others.
8. Experience with network monitoring/logging tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Splunk).
9. Solid understanding of cloud networking, identity and access management, and cost optimization strategies.
10. Excellent troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 4-year bachelor's degree in computer systems or related field, or related work experience.
2. 10 years of experience in network systems administration or engineering.
3. Certifications in network technologies, (e.g., CCNP, CCDP, Azure Network Engineer Associate.)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to remain stationary for several hours at a time.
2. Ability to travel in the US and internationally.
