One of our key businesses, located in San Diego, California, is seeking a talented Design Consultant for our Retail Store.

Position Overview:

The
Design Consultant
will be the face of our brand in the showroom, you will work closely with homeowners, designers, and industry professionals to create stunning and functional outdoor spaces. This is a client-facing, consultative
sales
role, focused on delivering exceptional service and driving sales of high-end outdoor furniture and accessories.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet showroom visitors and guide them through product offerings, including luxury outdoor furniture, grills, outdoor kitchens, firepits, and more.
  • Build and nurture relationships with retail customers and trade professionals such as designers, architects, and landscapers.
  • Assess client needs through consultations and provide tailored recommendations for complete backyard solutions.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of product lines, features, materials, and finishes to confidently communicate value and benefits.
  • Take ownership of the sales process—from initial contact to follow-up and close—ensuring an outstanding client experience.
  • Manage showroom appointments, walk-ins, and client outreach to drive new business and repeat sales.
  • Collaborate with the design and logistics teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, product innovations, and competitor offerings.
  • Represent the brand at showroom events, trade shows, and other promotional activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience in furniture, design, luxury retail, or home/lifestyle products preferred.
  • Proven ability to deliver sales results in a consultative, high-touch sales environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on relationship-building.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple client projects simultaneously.
  • Self-starter with a professional demeanor and a customer-first mindset.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, POS tools, and basic office software (MS Office, etc.).
  • Passionate about outdoor living and design aesthetics.
  • Proficiency in rendering software (e.g., SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) to create visual presentations and layout plans for client proposals.

Physical Activities:

Daily activity includes but is not limited to:

  • Lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting.
  • Reading, communication, simple math.
  • Standing throughout a 10 hour+ shift.
  • Be able to regularly lift/move up to 50lbs.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to above moderate.
  • Occasional Travel for events

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Hourly: Competitive hourly pay (non-exempt), commensurate with experience.
  • Incentives: Performance-based commission structure - No cap
  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plans, and paid time off.
  • Work environment: on site
