We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Afternoon floater to join our dynamic team. As a floater teacher, you will play a crucial role in providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old. Your primary responsibility will be to support our lead teachers and assistant teachers in various classrooms, ensuring the smooth operation of our preschool during the afternoon.

Position: Afternoon Floater Preschool Teacher

Hours: 10:00-6:00 (hour's may change, depending on if a teacher calls out and you are needed to fill in)

Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Assistance: Work collaboratively with lead teachers to assist in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities for children in different classrooms.
  • Supporting Activities: Participate in circle time, story reading, art projects, playtime, and other educational and recreational activities that promote children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Supervision: Maintain a safe and secure environment, ensuring the well-being and safety of all children in the preschool.
  • Individualized Attention: Provide individualized attention to children, fostering their self-esteem, and encouraging their learning and exploration.
  • Diapering and Toileting: Assist in diapering and toilet training activities as needed, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with lead teachers, other staff members, and parents/guardians regarding children's progress, daily activities, and any concerns.
  • Behavior Guidance: Implement positive behavior guidance techniques to encourage positive interactions and resolve conflicts among children.
  • Safety and Health: Adhere to all safety and health regulations and protocols, including emergency procedures, to create a secure and healthy environment for children.
  • Cleanliness: Help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the classrooms and shared spaces during and after activities.
  • Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay updated with the latest developments in early childhood education.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent; Early Childhood Education (ECE) certification is a plus.
  • Previous experience working with young children in a preschool or childcare setting is preferred. 1 year minimum
  • Strong passion for early childhood education and a nurturing attitude towards children.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Patience, creativity, and adaptability to meet the needs of each child.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is required.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Must be willing to obtain a food handlers license.
