Title: Interiors Quality EngineerRegular Hours: Friday – Sunday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PMTraining Period (6–16 weeks): Wednesday – Sunday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM. Upon completion, the schedule transitions to the regular weekend shift.Department: InteriorsReports to: Interiors Operations ManagerDirect reports: NoneSummary: The Interiors Quality Engineer is responsible for evaluating damage reports, inspect and give final conformances for the Rework and Repair Instructions, and working with the technicians on their implementation; analyze and propose solutions for recurring design problems and coordinate implementation with the Austria engineering team. The Quality Engineer will work within both the customer's operating and quality systems as well as FACC's processes and procedures.Responsibilities:· Report unresolved engineering problems, issues, delays, etc. to the Quality Manager/Interior Operations Manager.· Communicate repair and engineering information to management and shop personnel in a clear, and concise manner (i.e. minimum of time spent, resulting in minimal errors)· Report daily to the Quality Manager/Interior Operations Manager. the status of in-work engineering dispositions, and report unresolved problems, delays, etc.· Evaluate repair histories across historical data and make recommendations for new standard repairs to be added to manuals.· Work with the floor personnel and the Quality Inspectors to write clear and complete damage descriptions.· Confers with quality control, material, manufacturing, and other department personnel to provide technical support.· Interpret engineering drawings and facilitate correction of errors on drawings and documents identified during the modification and repair process of components in work in the repair station.· Ability to develop, author, implement and integrate technical instructions across various documents and manuals.· Investigate reports of defective, damaged, or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment, or systems to determine nature and scope of problem.· Examine, measure, inspect, or test defective parts for conformance to engineering design drawings or blueprint specifications, using precision measuring and testing instruments, devices, and equipment.· Consult with design engineers, stress engineers, and FAA Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) to obtain specialized information and Major Repair approvals as needed.· Evaluate findings to formulate corrective action plans and coordinate implementation of plans.· Use tools such as 5 why, fishbone and/or other methodologies to conduct effective root cause analysis.· Investigate and assist in resolving tooling problems.· Assist the Quality Manager//Interior Operations Manager in determining the appropriate action(s) to be taken when quality deficiencies are discovered or reported.· Act as a focal point for engineering issues for internal departments between FACC FAL and FACC Austria, outside vendors, and customers (as appropriate).· Support FACC MRO team with receiving inspection, buy off and FAA form.· Assure a backup is trained, capable of completed the above outlined task as required.· Use process validation tools such as IQ/OQ/PQ.· Other Duties as assignedSkills and Knowledge:· Ability to communicate effectively, act decisively, and to demonstrate innovation and resourcefulness.· Ability to evaluate and provide immediate resolution to minor discrepancies on composite structural components.· Understanding of FAA and EASA 145 Repair Station requirements.· Must have strong working experience with aircraft modifications.· Must have experience in reading engineering drawings, understanding general aircraft terminology, knowledge of standard airframe composite repair practices, and knowledge of engineering drawing processes, procedures, and design specifications.· Experience with production planning and shop manufacturing good practices required.· Strong English communication skills, both oral and written.· Good interpersonal skills and an ability to be professional at all time. Ability to take initiative as problems or opportunities arise.· Ability to solve problems and think strategically.· Must be able to function as part of a Team.· Have the current skills and knowledge to obtain a FAA 14 CFR 145 Repairmans Certificate.· Knowledge and understanding of FAR's and regulatory compliance processes· Microsoft Office experience required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)Preferred qualifications:· Minimum of two years of Advanced Composite Repair Liaison Engineering experience required. FAA Part 145 MRO/Repair Station or FAA Part 21 Certification of product and parts.· Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college in either Aerospace or Mechanical or Industrial or Production Engineering.· FAA Airframe and Powerplant license preferred· Equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.Physical requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
