The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is responsible to develop and foster business through pro-active direct sales, marketing, telemarketing, appointment calls, and sight visits to the hotels. The ASM is also responsible for developing a strategic action plan for the hotels to drive measurable, incremental sales revenue.

The ASM will Identify areas of opportunity in performance and recommend sales tools and sales training to optimize their performance. Additionally, the ASM will work with individual hotel team members to identify skill development areas of opportunity, and properly deploy sales and marketing resources.

Group Sales Manager Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Transient, Corporate and Group room sales for the hotels (3).
  • Clear understanding of the hotel's business strategies, and to determine an action plan to meet those goals.
  • Monthly and quarterly sales reporting.
  • Identify new market segments and business opportunities to increase sales.
  • Represent hotel in the local community, professional / industry organizations, and in various events and exhibitions.
  • Conduct daily sales calls and arrange site inspection trips to hotels by corporate and group clients.
  • Provide quick and timely responses to potential clients, and develop professional long-term business relationships.
  • Provide the highest quality of service to the customer at all times. 
  • Support hotel's service and relationship strategy, driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.
  • Work closely with Area Revenue Manager to ensure proposed rate negotiations meet the financial needs of the hotel.
  • Develop strong relationships with on-property team to ensure working in unity and always striving to achieve the same goals.
  • Attend all department and hotel meetings as necessary.
  • Target key local account potential for the hotel.  Focus on hotel awareness.
  • Develop relationships within community to strengthen and expand customer base for sales opportunities and improve hotel awareness.
  • Manage and develop relationships with Home Office team and ownership group.
  • Acquiring and developing new business accounts, and preparing sales proposals for clients.
  • Closely following up on all business leads within a 24-hour response timeline 
  • to clients.

Prerequisites:

  • Proven success in a similar hotel sales position.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Must speak and write English fluently.  Secondary language a plus.
  • Organization and attention to detail.
  • Polished personal presentation with warm, confident and hospitable personality.
  • Strong knowledge of Chicago market / convention calendar 
  • Must be able to work independently, self-motivator
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including when necessary including evenings and weekends.
  • This position requires limited travel

Education:

High school diploma required.  Secondary education or college preferred.  Hospitality or sales education / training a plus

Experience:

Minimum 2 years in a similar sales position within the hospitality industry.
