Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8AM – 4PM with occasional evening and weekend hours as required

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Director of Programs is responsible for all aspects of Pensacola Habitat for Humanity's (PHFH) service delivery programs. The Director oversees the entire process from initial intake, program application review and approval, to continuing family partnership in accordance with affiliate policies and procedures. The Director works closely with all organizational leadership and staff and frequently represents PHFH in community partnership opportunities.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Commits to Pensacola Habitat for Humanity's mission of building homes, communities, and hope.
  • Directs all program departments providing leadership and facilitating staff development and training plans.
  • Oversees the recruitment, selection, and qualification of all homebuyer applicants for the fee-simple/community land trust purchase programs.
  • Oversees the homebuyer experience to ensure all applicants complete program requirements and maintain mortgage eligibility within PHFH policies and guidelines.
  • Oversees the Community Development program to ensure all repair and rehab customers are eligible, compliant with the relevant funding source, and satisfied with repair outcomes.
  • Oversees the HUD Housing Counseling Program providing one-on-one counseling and group education.
  • Oversees the post-closing program—to include the Homeowner Hub, Porch Light publication, and homeowner events
  • Support program managers as they conduct other programmatic activities to include community events/ engagement, workshops, neighborhood cleanups, and beyond to further the mission and vision of PHFH.
  • Ensures quarterly required data for HFHI, NeighborWorks, and HUD is completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Represents PHFH in community partnership opportunities and is comfortable presenting in large group settings.
  • Attends and contributes to PHFH Board, management, and staff meetings.
  • Completes other duties assigned to meet the needs of all program departments and the organization.

  • Must have the ability to become a HUD certified housing counselor within 12 months of accepting the position
  • Knowledge of the Department of Housing and Urban Development and other affordable housing programs a plus.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of five years' experience managing a minimum of 3 departments consisting of leadership and staff positions
  • Minimum of two years' experience working for a non-profit organization; Habitat experience a plus
  • Experience working with individuals and groups from varying economic and demographic backgrounds preferred.
  • Group facilitation experience preferred.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus

  • Maintains a positive and motivating presence when working with the Family Services team, PHFH Home Buyer Applicants, PHFH Home Buyer approved Program Participants, Family Support "Coaches" Committee Volunteers, and the staff.
  • Manages difficult or emotional staff or program participant situations tactfully and in a timely manner.
  • Maintains a growth mindset and pursues training and development opportunities to build knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Achieve HUD Counselor Certification within 12 months of employment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is performed primarily in an office setting and may require sitting for long periods at a time. Frequently, this position requires representing PHFH in offsite community events.

The anticipated work schedule is Monday through Friday but requires flexibility to meet after-hour and weekend obligations. This position requires a valid state driver's license, safe driving record, reliable transportation, and insurability through our vehicle insurance carrier. This position also requires additional pre-employment screenings including a personal credit check.
