Production Scheduler

The Production Scheduler is responsible for communicating changing customer needs through production dispatch lists.

This job description is intended to be an overview of primary responsibilities for this position. All GSM employees assist as trained when management deems it necessary. It is expected that tasks and requirements will change from time to time and employees will be asked to respond as needed and within reason.

The primary responsibility of the Production Scheduler is to ensure Work-center dispatch lists reflect what GSM intends to run.

• Identify root cause for past due shipments and implement corrective actions to eliminate late orders

• Responds to move out messages

• Releases jobs according to scheduling guidelines for Part Groups

• Changes job start dates to reflect customer needs

• Balances work center capacity with customer desired dates

• Identify gating resources (material, labor, machine time) and optimize work order priorities to optimize delivery dates

• Develop reports and track KPIs – job start, job completion, job efficiency, etc.

• Develop and document best practices, standard work for scheduling, and decision trees to provide the organization clarity on how to manage situations where need exceeds capacity

The Production Scheduler will be working in a fast-paced, changing environment. Other occasional work outside normal office hours may be required in order to meet production and customer requirements.

Qualifications and Competencies

Experience scheduling multiple work centers in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with scheduling software and with manufacturing ERP software, preferably with PLEX.

Bachelor's in Business or Operations Management required.
