Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Technician to join our team in providing exceptional care to our residents. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medication administration and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of care in an assisted living or nursing home environment. As a Medication Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of our residents by accurately administering medications and supporting their daily health needs.

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with established protocols and guidelines.
  • Monitor residents for any side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to nursing staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of medication administration, including dosages and times given, while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans for residents.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses and physicians, to ensure comprehensive care for each resident.
  • Educate residents and their families about medication management and health-related topics.
  • Ensure that all medications are stored securely and that inventory is maintained accurately.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in medication administration.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home, or acute care settings is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and HIPAA regulations is essential.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Epic or Cerner is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are required for accurate medication management.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
  • A compassionate approach towards senior care, demonstrating empathy and respect for residents' dignity.
  • Certification as a Medication Technician or equivalent training is required.
