A K-12 school in Hyattsville, MD is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join their team for the upcoming school year on a contract basis. This role focuses on supporting students with diverse learning needs through specialized instructional strategies, individualized education plans (IEPs), and collaborative efforts with faculty and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to student goals and abilities
  • Assess and evaluate student progress regularly, adjusting instruction as necessary
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create an inclusive learning environment
  • Manage classroom behavior and foster social-emotional growth
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with school and state regulations

Qualifications

  • Valid Special Education teaching certification
  • Experience working with K-12 students with a range of disabilities
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and work collaboratively within a team

Job Type: Contract (Full school year)
