Title: Law Clerk I & II

Project Description:

Litigation support for the client. Positions will entail significant writing and possibly legal research, as well as the potential to adjudicate claims, so analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to write well will be paramount. Must be able to work 5 days a week, on-site, at a DC-based client site.

Education criteria for Law Clerk I:-

*JD required* Requires Law degree, or currently attending an ABA accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study or, an equivalent level of legal training or experience or an equivalent level of education may be substituted.

Education criteria for Law Clerk II:-

**JD required** and requires law degree (from ABA accredited law school).

Day-to-day Responsibilities:

Works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or Project Manager performing complex legal research; preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.; reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation.

Acts independently and/or as a team leader on larger projects.

Responsibilities may include acting as primary interface with trial attorneys, experts, and other client staff.

Required Skills:

Must have at least 1 or 2 years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects or task order related projects including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys.

Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.

Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.

Role also requires hands-on familiarity with Client tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.

Extensive legal writing (for example, in the form of legal memoranda, briefs, related correspondence), ability to perform legal research, high level of attention to detail as it pertains to legal writing.

Preferred Skills:

Claims assessment and analysis.

The Law Clerks are going to be asked to do significant writing, and to potentially adjudicate claims, so analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to write well will be paramount.
