Software Engineering Intern – AI & Automation
Alexandria Insights is seeking a Computer Science or Data Science intern to support development of innovative software solutions, prototypes, and AI proofs-of-concept. This entry-level role is ideal for a motivated student or recent graduate who enjoys hands-on coding and exploring emerging technologies such as chatbots, knowledge bases, and intelligent automation tools.

Duties include:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of web-based proof-of-concept applications using technologies such as React, FastAPI, and PostgreSQL.
  • Support development of AI prototypes including chatbots, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, and fine-tuned language models.
  • Experiment with LLM frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, Ollama, LoRA fine-tuning) to create intelligent assistants and technical knowledge bases.
  • Develop, test, and document REST APIs and data pipelines.
  • Collaborate with leadership to integrate AI tools into internal workflows and customer-facing applications.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies relevant to automation, DevSecOps, and AI-driven decision support.
Qualifications:
  • Pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • Experience with Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL, and web frameworks such as React and FastAPI.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts, including LLM fine-tuning, RAG systems, or model integration.
  • Understanding of database design and data retrieval techniques.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Passion for learning, experimentation, and applying new technologies to real-world problems.
Preferred Experience:
  • Prior project experience developing or fine-tuning large language models (LLMs).
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL, JWT authentication, and modern development tools (Git, Docker, VS Code).
  • Demonstrated ability to build and deploy full-stack applications.

25 hours week Part Time $12.77 hour.
