The Impact You Will Make
As an onsite Senior Cost Accountant, you will play a key role in driving impactful financial analysis to optimize manufacturing processes and enhance key performance metrics. You will excel in identifying and collecting critical data, providing actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making. With your expertise, you will analyze manufacturing cost variances, pinpoint root causes, and deliver actionable recommendations for continuous improvement. Collaborating cross-functionally, you will ensure accurate data collection and consistently provide comprehensive analyses that support management's decision-making. From overseeing product costing for new and existing products to troubleshooting and resolving cost accounting issues, you will be dedicated to improving financial accuracy and efficiency across all operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the cost accounting systems, documents and records.
- Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings
- Prepare and complete internal cost audits
- Analyze any change in goods and services provided to determine the effect on the total cost and how it affects business
- Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standards cost with actual production cost
- Create product cost estimation
- Assist in auditing general ledger preparation
- Analyze and report the profit margins
- Analyze and evaluate weekly manufacturing variances including PPV, labor/OH absorption, and inventory valuation and implement timely adjustment.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing operations to analyze variance and drive improvements
- Assist in developing standard costs for materials, labor and overhead
- Prepare month end journal entries manually & review for anomalies & inconsistencies
- Prepare monthly inventory account reconciliations and identify why any unreconciled variances exist
- Assist in developing an inventory reserve policy and perform monthly analysis
- Develop plant expense guidelines to ensure correct classification of controlled expenses
- Assist in budget and forecast preparation and ensure timely completion
- Assist with annual financial audits as it relates to inventory and standard costs
- Perform cost-benefit analyses as needed
- Participate in the cycle count process with Supply Chain quarterly to improve cycle count results through root cause analysis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting/finance or related discipline and at least 8 years of relevant work experience in manufacturing and cost accounting OR Master's degree in accounting/finance or related discipline and at least 6 years' experience in manufacturing and cost accounting
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines
- Extensive experience in manufacturing operations industry
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including strong Excel skills
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
- Experience using Microsoft Dynamics (D365)
- Able to quickly adapt to changing priorities
- Able to communicate with professionals at all levels and with various professional backgrounds and explain technical accounting to non-finance stakeholders
Preferred
- Advanced proficiency with various ERP systems is preferred, Dynamics 365 is strongly preferred.
