Do you take pride in keeping spaces clean, safe, and running efficiently? Are you the kind of person who notices when something needs fixing and takes care of it before anyone has to ask? If so, we'd love to have you on our team as a Maintenance Worker at Mary Crane Center.

As a Maintenance Worker, you'll play a vital role in ensuring that our centers are welcoming, safe, and fully functional for the children, families, and staff who depend on them every day. Your attention to detail, reliability, and pride in your work will help create an environment where learning and growth can thrive.

What You'll Do

Maintain Facilities and Equipment

  • Keep all facilities clean, sanitary, and safe for children and staff.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and building systems (e.g., filters, exit lights).
  • Manage, order, and distribute cleaning and maintenance supplies.
  • Secure premises before or after program hours based on assigned schedule.
  • Assist with seasonal or occasional tasks such as washing cots, windows, grills, and snow removal.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors for larger maintenance or repair needs.

Ensure Safety and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate logs and reports to track facility safety and repairs.
  • Monitor and document maintenance needs or potential hazards.
  • Communicate any facility or equipment concerns promptly to the Site Director.

Collaborate and Communicate

  • Work closely with the Site Director to coordinate supply orders, deliveries, and special event setup.
  • Maintain positive, professional communication with coworkers, parents, and visitors.
  • Provide guidance or assistance to less experienced team members when needed.

Administrative Support

  • Support compliance with licensing standards and safety regulations.
  • Participate in meetings and trainings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth daily operations.

Requirements:

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least 1 year of related maintenance or facilities experience preferred

Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to perform general maintenance safely and efficiently
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently
  • English proficiency required; bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
Physical & Work Environment Expectations
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 45 pounds
  • Requires bending, stooping, kneeling, and other physical activity
  • Work may include outdoor tasks in all weather conditions
  • Travel between agency locations may be required for meetings or training
  • Noise level is typically moderate to high in active early childhood settings
