Job Summary
The Dedicated Aide (SY25-26) plays a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs within the classroom environment. This position involves working closely with teachers and other staff to provide individualized assistance to students, particularly those with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special education needs. The Dedicated Aide will foster an inclusive atmosphere that promotes learning and growth while ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing instructional plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Provide support to students during classroom activities, ensuring engagement and participation.
- Facilitate communication between students and staff, utilizing American Sign Language when necessary.
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and learning outcomes.
- Support the development and execution of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and resources for lessons.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers regarding student performance.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive educational experience for all students.
Skills
- Experience in deaf education or working with individuals who have developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and effective teaching strategies for these learners.
- Strong teaching skills with an emphasis on early childhood education and childhood development.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in classroom management and behavior management techniques.
- Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, and literacy/mathematics education.
- Previous experience working with children in childcare or educational settings is essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment while maintaining effective communication skills.
- Experience with special education practices, including IEP implementation, is preferred.
- Background in Montessori or preschool education can be beneficial. This role requires a compassionate individual dedicated to fostering a supportive learning environment for all students.
