About Thrive Learning Academy:

Thrive Learning Academy is a newly established quaint, relationship-centered nonpublic school in Washington, D.C., with a maximum capacity of 40 scholars. We serve students ages 5–21 with learning, emotional, intellectual, and developmental disabilities—including autism.

We operate a year-round academic program with 210 instructional days, half-day Fridays, and intermittent breaks, allowing for ongoing academic growth and continuity of care for our students.

Our founding team brings over 20 years of experience in special education, and we are eager to combine our expertise to create one of the most effective and supportive learning environments in the District of Columbia.

Role Summary:We are seeking reliable, compassionate, and committed Dedicated Aides to support individual students both academically and socially. Dedicated Aides work under the guidance of special education teachers and service providers to promote student success across the school day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reinforce academic, behavioral, and social-emotional strategies.
  • Provide one-to-one or small-group support during instruction, transitions, and breaks.
  • Assist students with accessing the curriculum, reinforcing concepts, and completing assignments.
  • Reinforce classroom expectations to maintain a safe, inclusive, and emotionally responsive classro
  • om.
  • Implement Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) to support emotional regulation, if needed
  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with all educational stakeholders to include students, school staff, families, and community partners.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Document progress and collaborate with instructional teams.
  • Encourage the development of self-advocacy, social skills, and independence.
  • Support students during community outings and life skills activities.
  • Carry out behavioral strategies, including crisis intervention in keeping with policies and procedures and regulations governing private special education day schools

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma (Associate's or Bachelor's preferred)
  • Experience working with youth or students with disabilities (preferred)
  • Strong communication and patience
  • Ability to model calm, respectful, and consistent behavior

Compensation:Starting at $18/hour, based on experience. Full-time positions include benefits. This position is non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a single workweek.
